Perhaps you work in a creative profession, or maybe you just want to feel the urge to write or paint from time to time. Whatever the case may be, it can sometimes feel nearly impossible to get your creative juices flowing and follow through with a project, or even get started for that matter.
When this happens to you, you may feel like your creative endeavors are a lost cause. After all, how can a person complete a project to be proud of without creative energy flowing through their veins?
Fortunately, there are ways to boost your own creativity and drive so you can continue to make wonderful things anytime and anywhere.
Take Breaks, and Often
One of the most important keys to doing good work is taking breaks. That’s right, I’m recommending you take time off from your task in order to complete it more easily and end up with higher quality product.
Of course, this means that if you are working with deadlines, you will need to begin projects sooner in order to allow yourself time for breaks throughout. However, those relaxing days spent out in nature, hanging out with friends, or even on a mini-vacation are well worth the planning required. This is because break days like these feed your creativity, leaving you refreshed so that when you return, you’ll be ready to put your all into whatever your current creative project may be.
Making anything worthwhile is pretty hard to do when you aren’t feeling well. For this reason, it is crucial that those who create on a regular basis keep their health in check. This means staying mentally healthy, keeping in touch with your emotions, visiting the chiropractor and primary care physician often, and taking a daily supplement.
By doing these things, you are investing in both your future and any and all of your creative endeavors.
Re-Decorate Your Workspace
Sometimes the feel of a space simply does not lend itself well to creativity and free thinking. For instance, a space that is cramped or closed off due to furniture arrangement may make a person feel too crowded to think clearly. Likewise, empty, stark spaces may leave a person feeling uneasy.
If your workspace does not inspire you, it might be time to consider re-decorating. Replacing or rearranging the furniture, getting new wall hangings, and painting the walls a bright, stimulating color can all work wonders for helping your focus on your goals.
Use Essential Oils
Essential oils have some pretty incredible effects on people. By learning to use essential oils properly you will have the ability to relieve headaches and stomachaches, calm a restless mind, and stimulate a sluggish one, all without the use of chemical drugs.
There are a great many essential oils that work well for boosting creativity. If you are unsure where to begin, try diffusing lemongrass, orange, peppermint, or rosemary to see what they do for you.
Fresh air and sunshine are two seriously underestimated cures for a whole range of problems. A lack of creative juices is one of these problems, and a good nature hike or trip to the beach can work wonders for a person looking to find their energy and focus again.
Don’t have time for a break? Why not try taking your work outside? Painting, dancing, writing, and crafting can all be moved to the outdoors quite easily. You might be surprised at how a sunny day can inspire you.
